Guys our match with St andrews was marked by three players coming down with heat related illness, one of which ended up in the Emergency room. With the season working its way thru hotter and more humid weather, it is important that we maintain proper hydration and nutrition. I have put together some links we should all take a few minutes and read. The concept is simple, hydration is not a same day issue, requires some personalization based on how much you sweat and the game time conditions. It is important that we understand that we all want to play and have fun BUT recognize we are not elite athletes, and need to take care of ourselves better. We always have plenty of water and gatorade for the games. We need to make sure we get someone to help bring on water at any breaks in the game, after scores, injury times etc. In hot days we will ask the refs and other team to agree to take a water break at 20 minutes of each half.
