Due to multiple Sevens tournaments going on at /around the same time, we have decided to postpone this years Clover 7's event. We hope to have something later on this year so STAY TUNED. |

Guys its never fun to bring this up, BUT for the club to proceed and to play and host matches we need to collect dues. We do not have a corporate sponsor (but if any of you can secure us one, it would make things a whole lot easier) SO we rely on everyone paying their fair share. PAY YOUR DUES!, Dues go to pay for the refs, supplies, etc. If you are on a payment plan, make your payments, better yet see if you can pay up for the year. Get out there and get us sponsors, get family and friends to donate, remember we are a non-profit organization and moneys paid are tax deductable

Just a reminder that everyone needs to get their CIPP insurance in order to be on the playing field for games. Its easy, just go to the members section on the web site: http://www.gastoniarfc.com/members and click on CIPP.

A quick update on the North Carolina Rugby Union.
USA Rugby has created a new union of all the college teams. This fundamentally changes how the NCRU operates, club rugby will be much more of a focus going forward. Our club is currently an LAU (Local Area Union) club, as NCRU develops in 2011 and going into 2012, we will evaluate what role we want to have within the territorial union.
The 'matrix' is operated by USA Rugby South (the LAU), if we continue to grow and play consistently we will have the opportunity to step up a level and play Div III rugby again. Players are the key to the clubs progress. If you show up to practice, and play consistent rugby, you will allow the club to move up, if you don't, it is very unlikely we will move beyond a social club.
Let the board know what you would like to see out of our membership in NCRU.

Gastonia rugby has acquired accident insurance through USA Rugby to protect players on and off the pitch. Our insurance provides $100,000 medical coverage per injury, $100,000 travel assistance per injury, 24 hour accident coverage for all covered activities including practices, games and events. More information can be found at www.usarugby.org.
All active GRFC players are covered by this insurance. (Verified by CIPP status and dues status)
This insurance can be primary if you do not have other insurance, or as a secondary insurance can cover your deductables or other expenses not covered by your primary plan.

New Field Development -
We decided we needed more time to get the new field at West Creek ready. We will be using our old pitch at North Belmont this Spring, while we work on getting the new field ready. RC will put a plan together and let us know what is needed. (We still want to use the new pitch as much as possible for practices.)
Bylaw Changes -
The board approved some changes to our bylaws. We will be moving to a rotating presidency. Each full
year (starting on Sep 1st) a new VP will be selected. The VP for the
previous year will become the president for that year. (The previous
president will become a regular board member.)
NOTE: Board members must serve for at
least one year before they are eligible to become the president or VP.
