FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE GRFC Plans for Women's, Youth, and U19 squadsContinuing to grow rugby in GastoniaJune 2008 -- GRFC announced plans to develop local women's, youth, and U19 rugby teams. The teams will start playing sevens in the fall with the plan to play 15s rugby by Spring 2009. The women's side will make their first showing at the 2008 Clover 7s tournament. Practices will be held jointly with the men's teams, with scrimmages being scheduled for the fall of 2008. We welcome boys ages 14 to 16 for our youth side, 17 to 19 for our U19s side, and women 17 and older for our women's side. Men ages 17 and older are eligible to play with the Division III men's side. (All those under 18 must have a parental waiver signed in order to participate in practice or games.) In addition touch rugby youth clinics are under discussion with local county parks and recreation organizations. We hope to hold these clinics in the fall for those aged 14 to 16.
